Could Manchester United sign a left winger this summer?
Michael Carrick has indicated that Manchester United may look to strengthen their left wing during the upcoming summer transfer window.
At present, Matheus Cunha is the only natural option on the left side of the attack, especially with Patrick Dorgu currently sidelined through injury. Although Amad Diallo has occasionally filled in on that flank, he is naturally more effective playing on the right wing.
Not long ago, United had several options on the left, but the situation has changed after the club sold Alejandro Garnacho and sent both Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho out on loan.
Neither Rashford nor Sancho are expected to return to Old Trafford as part of the long-term plans once their loan spells end. Carrick has acknowledged that the club could address the shortage in that position this summer, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande reportedly among the players being monitored.
